Russia’s largest Republic Sakha (Yakutia) that accounts for 98% of domestic and for nearly one-third of global diamond extraction will hold Diamond Week on September 2-7, 2014. The event will be organized with the support from the Sakha Republic Government.

Diamond Week will consist of a visit to the republic’s administrative center Yakutsk, and a trip to Mirny, a diamond-mining center about 800 km west of Yakusk. It’s a unique chance for participants to see the whole process from the extraction, grading and cutting of diamonds to how rough stones are being transformed into exquisite jewelry.

Each city will also offer a range of activities, including tours to Permafrost Kingdom, an underground tourist attraction inspired by the extreme cold of Yakutia, visits to Chochur-Muran Ethnography Museum, Mammoth Museum, boat tour to Lena Pillars nature park, and more. There will be an unprecedented discount for jewelry during Diamond Week in all Yakutia jewelry shops.
