Seattle, April 30, 2017 – Russia’s Yakutia Airlines has announced the prize winners of its 2017 Alaska Photo Contest. The winning photos were selected from more than 120 images submitted by photographers from Alaska and other US states. The photo contest was organized by InterPacific Aviation and Marketing, Inc./AirRussia.US – Yakutia Airlines’ representative office in North America – and was aimed at promoting Alaska among Russian and other international tourists as a world-class destination.
Regional Director Mark Dudley of InterPacific Aviation and Marketing, Inc./AirRussia.US: “We’d like to thank each and every photographer who participated in this contest. Alaska and the Russian Far East are geographically close and share a common climate, history and cultural heritage, but the regions are nevertheless isolated from each other by the challenges of transportation and politics. The work of these photographers helps to build a bridge of understanding, and forge closer people-to-people ties. We are pleased with the many fine contributions to the contest, and we look forward to this becoming an annual event”.
The contest invited submissions in five categories: Nature & Outdoors, Heritage & Culture, Local People & Faces, Leisure & Relaxation, and Food & Drink.
The first place winner of the 2017 Alaska Photo Contest is Nathaniel Wilder with his winning photo “Native Iñupiaq Eskimo woman and her son in the Arctic”. The photo was taken at Point Hope, Alaska. Nathaniel Wilder will receive two, free roundtrip air tickets from Anchorage to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky or Yakutsk, Russia on Yakutia Airlines.

What about the drawing contest from awhile back? I think it was for kids? Correct me if I’m wrong.
Thank You
Thank you for your comments. We have never conducted the drawing contest. We have conducted photo contests in Yakutia and Kamchatka (Russia) since 2014 and we hope The Alaska photo contest will become an annual event as well.
